Let's say you want a new pair of brown shoes.....Do you want taupe, toast, mocha, cafe au lait, bark, cinnamon, auburn, chestnut, walnut, sepia, or umber?
When did we get all these new shades? And it is the same for all the colors. Try off-white...
bone, beige, tan, cream, ecru, winter white, etc.
How about blue?..... royal, sky, baby, Tiffany, navy, ocean, turquoise, aqua, ....
See how many more you can come up with....

I'll have to admit that I'm guilty of the many-names-for-shades-of-one-color trait...it drives my sons nuts! :)
