STAYING BUSY

Well, after mono, ear infection, strep throat, and pneumonia...I think I am finally beginning to feel a little better. Of course, that is not saying much. I could only get better, cause if I had gotten worse, I'd be gone from the planet! I have been through 2 different antibiotics, but did not tell much difference until the third one. My ears are still stopped up, so I can not hear very well yet. And, my fatigue level...well, let's just say, it takes all I can do to get up and go to the bathroom. I know I am still fighting the mono, too. Well, I suppose all that sounds like complaining...so, sorry.

I have been quite content to lay in the bed and do nothing, but browse the computer and write a little. Oh, and watch that sad TV. I can't seem to find any of that 'quality programming'. Really, I've been so sick that is all I could do. But, I have about had enough of that! I want to get up and do something, but I just can't yet. Think this may help me?
Anyway, my plan to keep my sanity has been to scan pics into the computer. I have gathered lots of old pictures through the years of Mom and Pop and their families, and of Don's parents and their families. So, for the sake of posterity, I am doing my best to organize and label them, and save them on the computer.

I was quite dismayed to find a while back that my wedding pictures, from 1972, were already discoloring. Of course, they were stored in one of those plastic sleeved albums. That was before someone discovered that acid free is the way to go with preserving photos. So, I have removed all the pics from the albums, and I want to scan those, too. It really is a shame that so many of us will have wedding pics and others, too, that will not stand the test of time. Have you checked yours lately? It may be a good idea to do so. And, if any of them are in those albums with the plastic or vinyl sleeves...take them out immediately!

Now, one guess who this adorable baby girl is.....

And, here she is with her equally adorable parents at Panama City Beach, FL.

Oh, what a precious baby girl you were, Tonja ... and the picture of you with your parents on the beach is just priceless. You should have that one enlarged and hang it somewhere.

I'm glad to hear you're feeling a little better, and hope you will get your strength back soon. Pamper yourself and don't try to do too much too soon.

Scanning those pics is such a great idea while you are recouping!!! I have done a few of mine but need to do more. The only thing I don't like about having pictures on my computer is that I don't get the pictures printed often enough. I am way behind and just need to sit down and go through Shutterfly and print them all!! Take care of yourself girl.

Precious pictures. And I note that your Mom was wearing a shirtwaist dress to the beach.

Chris takes pictures of pictures, then fixes the colors. He did a fantastic 11x14 from a faded 8x10 for his parents' anniversary several years ago---it was of his Mom and Dad the day his Dad came home from WWII. His Dad's in his bell-bottoms and his Mom is cute as a button, in her little Rosie the Riveter overalls and one of those scarves that covers her hair and the ends tied in a bow at the top.

He took all the old yellowed tones out of the background and made it just gorgeous.

Do as Janie prescribes and Take Care of YOU.

Tonja...all of us who were married in the '70's have "orange" pictures. Whatever they used to develop pictures back then doesn't stand up to the test of time and we are all orange! It doesn't matter how well or how poorly we stored the pictures. At least that's what someone told me.
I am glad you are at least starting to feel a little better! I imagine it's going to take a while before you are back to "normal"..whatever that is! :-)

I was gone for 10 days and I remember you saying you didn't feel well. OMG you were really sick. Continue to feel better.
Take care and God Bless. I will
be gone for another 8 days so stay
well while I'm gone.

What beautiful pictures. The one of you and your parents at the beach is a true classic.

All the pictures I had developed at Rea and Derick (a drug store chain) during the years my children were babies are very, very orange. However, in the same photo albums is an occasional picture given to me by other people. They are not orange, so apparently were developed elsewhere. It just makes me sick.

Glad you are beginning to feel better. I removed my pics from those albums a few years ago, but have many that were never put in albums that are orange from that time period. I am trying to scan my old photos - have them pretty organized - now just have to scan them. We are trying to get a book put together for a family reunion next year celebrating the 125th wedding anniversary of my grandparents.
